Magyarora.com
Magyarora.com is a website for learners and tutors of the Hungarian language. It offers a frequently updated collection of original materials of all levels, including audio recordings, all free of charge.

Created in 2002 by an experienced team of tutors, Magyaróra's objective has been to develop a great variety of friendly yet efficient learning materials that can be used both, in regular courses and for self-study.

 The different sections of the website cover grammar and vocabulary aspects and also present literary texts and cultural anecdotes.

We offer the following levels:
* beginners
* intermediate
* advanced.

There are many ways to use effectively the collections of documents presented in magyarora.com: one may want to focus on a topic of interest (e.g. shopping) and gather materials from each section about it. One may also explore a given aspect in depth (e.g. literature). It’s up to you to follow your inspiration fo the moment!

Here is the "menu" you can pick from:

Ground Work
The Grammar section of the website contains explanations and exercises with the keys to various important points of the Hungarian grammar. These can be supplemented with our Short Exercises: vocabulary-centred worksheets of one page each, on everyday life topics (forms, short dialogues, cartoons, puzzles etc.). The communications-oriented worksheets allow practising Hungarian with friends, fellow students or in the classroom. They are downloadable.

Pronunciation, Spoken Hungarian
To improve the Pronunciation, one can work with exercises focusing on the particularities of the Hungarian language (accents, intonation etc.) or listen to recordings of short poems and concentrate on these particularities in a given context. The section on Colloquial Hungarian focuses on the spoken language. It contains thematically organised phrases and expressions that you are likely to hear in Hungary.

Culture and Literature
The Easy Readings collection contains short, mostly humorous texts with simple vocabulary. For those interested in literature, it may be worthwhile checking out the Literary Texts section where works by Hungarian authors are introduced. Beside the texts, they will also find the writer's short biography, many exercises with their solutions. Our Cultural Anecdotes will give you an insight in the Hungarian culture. Various interesting topics, such as the short history of a famous horse or the unification of Buda and Pest, are presented here.

Use the News
The News Articles Archive offers a collection of press cuttings, each accompanied with an English vocabulary list, an audio recording, exercises and their solutions. Finally, the subscribers to the News Service receive by e-mail on a weekly basis a short newspaper article supplemented with a trilingual (English-German-French) vocabulary list: A pleasant and efficient way to maintain a regular contact with the Hungarian language and improve one’s vocabulary!

New Feature in 2006
A series of thematically organised worksheets and audio recordings. They will cover important topics of the everyday life such as social life, sport, work and health. These topic-oriented sections will help you extend your vocabulary in a well-structured way and will help you to preparr for language exams.

According to its motto, magyarora.com offers “New paths to the Hungarian language”. We invite you to walk along these paths at your own pace: Learn, discover, explore, and have fun!
