Although UB has changed in many ways since 1927, its commitment to student preparation and community service remains central to its mission. The Junior College of Connecticut became the University of Bridgeport in 1947, when the Governor of Connecticut chartered the institution as a four-year university with authority to grant the baccalaureate degree.

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), UB Online has been offering courses online since 1997. UB Online offers a wide range of programs and courses that allow you to attend class anytime from anywhere. All you need is a computer, access to the Internet, and email, and you can take courses or complete your degree from the comfort of your home or office.
The University of Bridgeport is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The University also is accredited by the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Department of Higher Education.
In order to receive federal or state aid, you must be a citizen, or an eligible non-citizen. International students are eligible for institutional aid and may qualify for certain types of loans, which require a credit-worthy, citizen to co-sign.
