Andrew Grey The University of Alabama has given me 4 of my best years. It provides the true college experience. U of A in Tuscaloosa provides a great college town with great college nightlife, a beautiful campus and coeds, and surprisingly underrated academics. In addition to having the best time of your life on a gorgeous campus, you will be challenged and continue to grow intellectually. It is a big school, and you can fade into the crowd, but you can make it as small as you want it to be by getting involved in the numerous student organizations and activities on campus and in the community. The surrounding town is not very nice, but the campus and surrounding areas are dominated by college students. I highly recommend the University of Alabama to students who want a great college life in a midsized college town, but are also willing to be challenged in the classroom.
Jim Thorpe Going to The University of Alabama has given me a chance to become aware of the white man's culture. I learned many things and made many friends at UA. There are plenty of black people to, don't get it twisted. Very nice facilities. They are always building something new. The whole greek life thing...I can't really judge them because I'm greek, but I'm in a predominately African American Fraternity ( Phi Beta Sigma International Fraternity, Inc.) Greek life is very important, but I've seen GDIs have a good time.
Jane Simpson The University of Alabama has one of the best Pre-Med programs in the nation. The percentage of students who finish the program and are accepted to Medical School is almost 100%. I don't think there is a more beautiful campus. The students and faculty have a friendliness and love of life that is common in the South. Overall, this university has been excellent.
Helen Andrews My experience at the U of A was a positive one. But, it is what YOU make it. There is a party scene that you can easily partake in. And it's OK if in moderation. You are treated as an adult; if you choose not to attend class, study and put forth effort, the professors are not going to take your hand and beg you to do so. In that sense, it is very preparatory for the "real world".
I did not participate in Greek life nor in the party scene, and put forth moderate to high effort at the University of Alabama and I did fine grade-wise. The Business school professors were professional, respectful and always willing to meet with you. I found them to be invaluable in helping me choose my specific area of study and plan my coursework.
I would recommend the U of A to any student who wants to work at their college life, be treated like an adult and get ready for entrance into the workworld.
