ROTARY FOUNDATION OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
Ambassadorial Scholarship
The Ambassadorial Scholarships Program, which began in 1947, is the oldest and best known program of The Rotary Foundation. The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships Program remains the same today as it was in 1947: to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries.
  Group Study Exchange
The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program provides grants for teams of outstanding non-Rotarian business and professional persons to travel between paired Rotary districts in different countries. Teams spend four to six weeks abroad where they study their host country's institutions, economy, and lifestyles; observe their own professions in that country; and discuss ideas with local citizens while developing friendships.
University Teachers
Grants for University Teachers to Serve in Developing Countries began in 1985-86 as a pilot program to promote international understanding, blending two of Rotary's most important emphases:volunteer service and education. The purpose of the Grants for University Teachers is to build international understanding and friendship while strengthening higher education in low-income countries. Two grant options are available: US$10,000 for 3-5 months of service; US$20,000 for 6-10 months of service.

SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH COUNCIL
SSRC fellowship and grant programs provide support and professional recognition to innovators within fields, and especially to younger researchers whose work and ideas will have longer-term impact on society and scholarship. These programs often target the spaces between disciplines, where new perspectives emerge and struggle for acceptance, thus ensuring the production of knowledge and expertise on key topics, regions, and social challenges. They promote the diversification of knowledge production, strengthening research by ensuring that it remains open to (and challenged by) a range of perspectives, backgrounds, and nationalities.

HATTIE M. STRONG FOUNDATION
Grants
Grants are awarded in support of projects designed to provide educational opportunities and services to youth and adults in the Greater Washington Area, with a concentration on programs in Washington, D.C. Although the Foundation recognizes the need for a broad range of activities in the educational field, it has of necessity established guidelines for its funding. The Board reviews its grantmaking priorities on a regular basis in an effort to best serve with its finite resources the changing needs of the community.
Student Loans
The Strong Foundation administers a loan program for American college students, studying in the U.S. or abroad, who are entering their FINAL year of study in a baccalaureate or graduate degree program. Loans are made solely on the basis of individual merit, without regard to race, sex, or religion, are interest-free and do not require collateral. Applicants must be enrolled, as full-time students, in an accredited four-year college or graduate school.

ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT FOUNDATION
Since 1990, the AvH has awarded 10 German Chancellor Scholarships annually to prospective leaders from the U.S.A. (under 35 years of age) in the academic, economic and political fields, enabling them to carry out research projects of their own choice in Germany. During one-year research stays, scholars are also given an opportunity to gain an insight into the social, cultural, economic and political situation in Germany.
German Chancellor Scholars also take part in a four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin in September, a fact- finding tour of Germany and an evaluation seminar in Bonn.
In addition to the scholarship, the Foundation bears the costs for preparatory German language tuition and an intensive course of several weeks in Bonn.
