| Financial Aid Granting Institutions - 2 | AMERICAN GEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE AGI Minority Participation Program Since 1972, the American Geological Institute has administered the Minority Participation Program. The broad goal for this program is to maintain and increase incrementally the number of underrepresented ethnic-minority students in the geosciences. Recipients of AGI Minority Geoscience Scholarships are provided with financial awards ranging from $500 to $3,000 and given the opportunity to interact with a mentor from the geoscience community within AGI MPP Advisory Committee. If you are enrolled in an earth science education or geoscience degree program and would like to apply for a scholarship for the 2005-2006 school year, please review the qualifications and procedures outlined on the Application Form. Postdoctoral Fellowship To help a trainee initiate a career in cardiovascular research while obtaining significant research results. Scientist Development Grant To support highly promising beginning scientists in their progress toward independence by encouraging and adequately funding research projects that can bridge the gap between completion of research training and readiness for successful competition as an independent investigator. Beginning Grant-in-Aid To promote the independent status of promising beginning scientists. Established Investigator Award To support mid-term investigators with unusual promise who have demonstrated a commitment to the cardiovascular or cerebrovascular science area as indicated by prior publication history and accomplishments. AMERICAN INDIAN GRADUATE CENTER The American Indian Graduate Center, Inc. announces the availability of graduate fellowships for American Indian and Alaska Native students from federally recognized U. S. tribes. AIGC was founded in 1969 to help open doors to graduate education and to help tribes obtain the educated professionals they need to become more self-sufficient and exercise their rights to self-determination. To be considered for an AIGC fellowship the applicant must be: · Pursuing a post baccalaureate graduate or professional degree as a full time student at an accredited institution in the U.S. and; · Able to demonstrate financial need and; · An enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group, or provide documentation of descendency (possess one fourth degree federally-recognized Indian blood). AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF INDIAN STUDIES Senior Research Fellowships These are awarded to established academic specialists in Indian studies who possess the Ph.D. or equivalent. Pursuant to Indian government requirements, each research fellow is formally affiliated with an Indian university during the course of work in India. Award periods range from 6 to 9 months. Senior Short-Term Fellowships These are the same as Senior Research fellowships except the award period is up to four months. Fellowships for Scholarly Development A limited number of fellowships are awarded to established scholars who have not previously specialized in Indian studies, and to established professionals who have not previously worked or studied in India. Proposals in this category have a substantial research or project component and clearly defined anticipated results. No individual can receive a grant in this category more than once. Junior Fellowships Junior Fellowships are awarded to graduate students specializing in Indian aspects of academic disciplines for Ph.D. dissertation research. Junior Fellows are formally affiliated with Indian universities and research supervisors. Awards are for a period of up to 11 months. For more information click here
THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY The APS Fellowship Program was created to recognize members who may have made advances in knowledge through original research and publication or made significant and innovative contributions in the application of physics to science and technology. They may also have made significant contributions to the teaching of physics or service and participation in the activities of the Society. Each year, no more than one-half of one percent of the then current membership of the Society are recognized by their peers for election to the status of Fellow in The American Physical Society. AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION Dissertation Research Awards The purpose of the Dissertation Research Award program is to assist science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with research costs. Minority Fellowship Programs The MFP's objective is to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. MFP does this by providing financial support and professional guidance to individuals pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology. Residential Fellowships at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars The Woodrow Wilson International Center awards approximately 35 residential fellowships annually in an international competition to individuals with outstanding project proposals representing the entire range of scholarship, with a strong emphasis on the humanities and social sciences. Student Travel Awards APA's Science Directorate sponsors an annual competition for graduate student travel awards to help psychology graduate students travel to the annual APA Convention to present their research.
