| Internet Based Chinese Language Courses The Internet Based Chinese Language Courses are offered by La Trobe University, Bendigo. The course is mainly to be delivered via Internet facilities such as the World Wide Web, Email, and FTP with the additional support of printed textbooks, audio-video tapes, off-line courseware, and ordinary postal correspondence. Advice on certain software applications is provided for those who are not familiar with Internet facilities in general and Chinese computing in particular. Through online distance learning, students enrolled in this course are expected to fulfill the following tasks in a period of six months: * To study 15 Chinese language lessons, each lesson with about 20 new words, a set of oral and reading texts, and grammatical notes. * To learn some basic knowledge and skills of Chinese computing such as Chinese word processing, Chinese text Email, and Chinese related Web research. * To complete the language drills and exercises from each lesson, and forward the answers (mainly by Email) to the subject tutor for assessment. * To participate in group discussions through an online weekly magazine as edited specially for the students enrolled in this course, and other available programs such as Cool Talk, Internet Meeting, Internet Phone, and Internet Chat. * To have 3 language tests, each test to be taken after every 5 lessons are finished. * To write 3 research essays on China's history and culture with a focused topic in each essay. You may choose one of the two options for your enrolment with a period of six-month online study: Option A: You are fully enrolled, and required to submit all the course assignments for assessment. With a satisfactory assessment, you will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course. Tuition Fees for Option A (Full Enrolment): AU$458 (Current Exchange Rate: AU$100=US$55) Option B: You are partially enrolled, and not required to submit any course assignments for assessment. You will not receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course. Tuition Fees for Option B (Partial Enrolment): AU$150 The course enrolment for both Options goes into effect from the date of commencement as confirmed by the Course Coordinator, and expires six months (equivalent to 185 days) after the date you commence the course program. You will be reminded by the Course Coordinator 20 days before your enrolment expires.
