The RN-to-BSN Degree Program. Program Fundamentals According to a January 2001 survey sponsored by the Florida Hospital Association on Nursing Opinions on Solving the Nursing Shortage, RNs need "flexible educational programs for advanced degrees, and improved access for associate and diploma nurses to obtain a BSN degree." Jacksonville University has designed this program to offer RNs an opportunity to complete their baccalaureate education while managing work and family responsibilities. The program, which is offered through the School of Nursing, was designed by both nursing educators and nursing service administrators, resulting in a curriculum that blends a strong academic science base with extensive clinical instruction. Features of the RN to BSN program include: - Receive up to 30 credits for an active U.S. RN license - Opportunity to transfer up to 64 credits - Accelerated pace - Student-centered approach
Tuition and Fees Tuition is $375 per credit hour and there is a $35 application fee due when applying to Jacksonville University. Books and materials are additional. Federal Financial Aid Financial aid can come from a variety of sources, including federal loans and grants, and state loans, grants and scholarships. Determine your eligibility for Federal student aid with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is used to apply for federal student financial aid, including grants, loans, and work-study. In addition, it is used by most states and schools to award non-federal student financial aid. (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
FSA the Federal Student Aid programs are the largest source of student aid in America. These programs provide over $60 billion a year in grants, loans and work-study assistance. (www.studentaid.ed.gov) Federal Stafford Loans are student loans that must be repaid and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. First-year undergraduates are eligible for loans up to $2,625. Amounts increase for subsequent years of study, with higher amounts for graduate students. If you qualify (based on need) for a subsidized Stafford loan, the government will pay the interest on your loan while you are in school. Federal PLUS Loans are unsubsidized loans made to parents. If you are independent or your parents cannot get a PLUS loan, you are eligible to borrow additional Stafford Loan funds. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are grants available for undergraduates only; awards range from $100-$4,000.
Perkins Loans are low-interest loans that must be repaid; the maximum annual loan amount is $4,000 for undergraduate students and $6,000 for graduate students. Federal Pell Grants are available to undergraduate students only. Grants do not have to be repaid. The maximum Pell Grant for the 2002-2003 award year is $4,000. Florida Student Assistance Grants - The Florida Student Assistance Grant is a need-based state institutional administered program. Florida Resident Access Grant - Receive a $2,686 grant to help pay your tuition at Jacksonville University. Florida residents only.
