About Bryant and Stratton Career College Bryant & Stratton has chosen an asynchronous web-based online education program. All courses are delivered via Internet-based software called TopClass. This software is used in many distance education programs. TopClass is accessed via our website, and the student does not need to download any TopClass software to their computer. This software comes equipped with messaging, discussion areas, coursework (lectures), announcements and testing. Courses are never "live" so there is no need to be on the computer at any given time. Students work in TopClass when they choose anytime during the day or night-in the middle of the night, weekends or mornings-because TopClass is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Financing
Grants Pell grant program provides up to $4050 for each undergraduate year. Eligibility is determined by the federal government based on the information provided on the FAFSA. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) provides assistance to students showing financial need. Awards range from $200-$4000 per academic year. Eligibility is determined by the financial aid office. Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a New York State grant available to residents attending college full time. Awards range from $500 to $5000 per academic year. New York State students receive an Express TAP Application from NYSHESC.
Scholarships Bryant & Stratton's Adult Learner Scholarship* is available to matriculating students who received their high school diploma or GED at least one year ago and is enrolling for the first time. A maximum value of $1600 is offered at either $400 per term for 4 terms, or $200 per term up to 8 terms. Candidates apply via Admissions. Matching Scholarships. Bryant & Stratton will match the dollar amount of any scholarship awarded from a professional organization. Details and applications are available via the admissions department. Loans Federal Stafford Loans include two programs. The "subsidized" Stafford loan is based upon financial need. The "unsubsidized" Stafford loan is not. Almost all students who meet the general eligibility requirements for federal financial aid are eligible for a Stafford loan in some amount. Independent students eligibility is larger as they do not have access to Plus loans. Federal Plus Loan Parents borrow directly from lending institutions to pay for a dependent child's cost of education. Repayment begins within 60 days of the date the loan is disbursed.
Other Tuition balances not covered by financial aid can be paid by check, money order, or credit card. Payment arrangements can also be made and spread over the course of the semester.
Minimal technology requirements: · Home computer with a Pentium III 450mhz processor or higher, minimum of 128 Meg of RAM, 256 Meg of RAM recommended, and a CDrom drive · Windows XP or higher operating system · Internet access · Personal email address · Microsoft Internet Explorer (browser 6.0 version or higher) · Microsoft Office 2003 Professional to include: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher · Updated anti-virus software · Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x or higher · Other software, including upgrades, or computer accessories maybe required in the future
