These are sometimes referred to as "degree mills" and are highly illegal. It is important to know that these entities are out there, especially if you are considering going the "Online University" route. The last thing you want your online education to result in is a visit from the FBI and a sentence in a federal corrections institution.
Of course, in terms of time and money, the cheapest path to a degree may appear to be fake degrees you can buy online. Undoubtedly these can have expensive repercussions for your reputation later in life as no employer would be happy to find out that their new highly paid manager paid for their degree in 5 easy payments of $19.99.
Sometimes it can be hard to tell a "degree mill's" web site from a legitimate degree program. Besides checking on the online universities accreditation, you should also be on the lookout for any sites that allow for suspicious activities regarding the issurance of education credentials. For example, sites that:
